Malware is a contraction of malicious software. This is a piece of software intentionally made to cause an issue. That issue could be a disruption to a computer, server, client, or computer network, leak private information, gain unauthorized access to information or systems. Because of that, there are different type of malware which we are going to have brief introduction of each.
1)Virus
In addition to its inherent maliciousness, a virus infects other applications and has the ability to spread to other systems. The virus is attached to a file and is triggered when the file is opened.
2)Worm
Worms are a sort of malware that reproduce itself, much like malware viruses do. Worm malware, unlike viruses, can replicate itself without the need for human intervention.
3)Fileless Malware
Unlike classical malware, which utilizes executable files to infect systems, fileless malware has no direct influence on files or the file system. Instead, this virus makes advantage of non-file objects such as Microsoft Office macros, PowerShell, WMI, and other system utilities.
4)Trojans
A trojan program masquerades as a genuine one, but it is actually harmful. A trojan, unlike a virus or worm, cannot reproduce on its own and must be executed by its target.
5)Spyware
Cybercriminals employ spyware to track users’ actions. The software may gain access to usernames, passwords, and personal data by collecting the keystrokes a user enters during the day.
6)Ransomware
It encrypts and locks a victim’s device or data and demands a payment to unlock it. It is frequently the consequence of victims acquiring this virus kind by accident via email attachments or links from unknown sources.
7)Rootkits
Rootkits are a form of malware that allows hackers to remotely control victims’ devices, frequently without their knowledge.
8)Bots or botnets
A bot is a piece of software that performs an automated task without human intervention. A computer infected with a bot can propagate the bot to other machines, forming a botnet.
